The City Council for the City of Los Altos voted to engage an architectural firm to study improved land and recreational use for the 18 acre site adjacent to the downtown area which now is home to the Los Altos city services (City Hall, police, library), History House, Hillbarn Theater, Hillview Center, and recreation fields. The output from this study will be a comprehensive "Master Plan" that suggests the best use of the property with respect to use needs for Los Altos residents, City staff, and the look and feel such a design.
Anderson Brulé Architects (ABA) was awarded the contract to develop the Master Plan on February 12, 2008. ABA is located in San Jose and has developed numerous master plans for community centers, civic facilities, and other multifunction campuses for both public and private clients. The process outlined by ABA is a collaborative one including wide reaching community involvement through community meetings, focus groups, and public surveys.
